Fantastic win in the Vuelta, blowing away all these youngsters. I also congratulate you with your openness for showing your bio passport data. Would you not consider to go even one step farther and make your important SRM files available to us by dropping them into a dropbox? No more secrets in our beautiful sport!

Hi Chris, To those who say age does not matter I say, clearly you have not been there. As a 50 year old, I tell you without a doubt it matters a lot. I am in awe of your performance in the Vuelta Chris, no ifs or buts. The reason for your success from what I can see, is your passion for riding a bicycle. Congrats and may there be a few more. Jose (RSA)

Fantastic! Wow, what a win, you gave an old racer new inspiration winning the vuelta. I am a little bit older than you and still race on the road in England. I now believe I can do what I dream of, thank you

Bravo, Chris! We've watched you race from the beginning and always believed you had what it takes to be a grand tour champion.
We are Oregonians and were on the edge of our seats early every morning following the exciting Vuelta racing! Wishing you more beautiful and perfect wins.

Congratulations on your long awaited Grand Tour win. I remember riding along side you or you passing me as you rode on your training rides in the East County of San Diego in the early 90's when you were still young. Not yet signed as a pro but destined for stardom. It was amazing to see you grow and grow and sometimes sad to see you get disheartened in Europe, only to return back to the States. But your persistence, hard work and dedication finally paid off for you. I'm proud to say that I knew you and even shook your hand after you said goodbye on those old training rides, just to see you become a great professional rider and win a grand tour years later. What a role model you are to the youth of cycling and us old guys like you to keep on pushing no matter how old we get.

Just wanted to congratulate on your Vuelta win! I was rooting for you the entire way. I really don't understand why people think you came from "nowhere" in winning. You have been winning for years or putting so much effort into supporting others that your own results have been affected.......yet you still have top 15 results. i still remember the Tdf when Lance was out of the race........and you had to get as close to the front as possible to help team GC and you did! Age is not a predictor of results! i hope very much that you will have the right team next year and that your capabilities continue to be recognized!

Congrats Chris, not only for the unbelievable feat of winning the Vuelta, but also for publishing your blood passport online! As a Belgian, cycling is in my blood, but due to all the doping cases from the '98 Tour onwards, any outstanding exploit now raises certain doubts in my mind. I hope many cyclists will follow your example, and athletes from other sports as well! (obviously many sports still have to introduce decent testing programs first...) Good luck for the World Championships!

Congratulations on your Vuelta victory. Glad to see that you still have it and proved what a worthy champion you are and age doesn't matter. I hope to see you racing for a few more years.

Unbelievable job at the Vuelta! I've followed your career since 1995, when I saw you race the Athens (Ga) Twilight Crit. You were wearing your ponytail then. I go back to 2010 when you said you could out climb anyone in the pro peloton. You showed it in Spain, and at 41!

Congrats on the win in Spain. I remember when you used to lap the field at the weekly Sorrento Valley and Poway Training Crits! What a journey. Hope to see you on the roads in SD in the off season. All the best

Congratulations on such an amazing win and career to this point (more to come!!)

You are stepping up and setting a monumental example of transparency for our sport. While it is unfortunate that this is the world we live in today, it will be telling to see if any others from any of the recent grand tours, worlds, Olympics, classics, etc. follow your lead.

Congratulations again from a 15 year fan!!!!
